The Amazing Dave Elstun... began a lifelong love affair with the art of Magic at the age of six. In the early 1970’s opportunity presented itself to Dave when he began to take lessons at The Wizard Magic Shop in Boulder. In 1974 AAA Colorado hired Dave to create a school program called "The Magic of Safety". The wildly successful program toured Colorado schools for 4 seasons being presented in front of 200,000 children per year. This is where his real education in the art of presentation began. There is no substitute for a real audience! It is there that the professional becomes seasoned.
In 1980 Dave graduated... from the University of Northern Colorado with a BA in Theater and a minor in Mass Communication. After 2 years in radio Dave returned to magic. Opportunity once again presented itself in 1982 when Dave joined Zeezo’s Magic Castle. For 7 years Dave managed and then owned Zeezo’s Magic Castle in Buckingham Square Shopping Center. During this time Dave served as President of the Merchant’s Association and as Vice President of the Aurora Salesman with a Purpose Club. In 1989 Dave dedicated himself to performing fulltime.
While Dave re-established... himself as a full time performer, he began street performing in Boulder. In retrospect it was one of the best decisions that he could have made. Now using the title of The Amazing Dave Elstun he developed his straitjacket escape (The Jacket of Doom) into a comic masterpiece and learned how to gain and hold the attention of a large group of people. During this time the amazing Dave saw his career explode (see Dave's experience). Today The Amazing Dave Elstun is in demand not only as a performer in schools, fairs and festivals but also in casino's. Dave now works at the Lodge Casino and was formerly featured at the Riviera. Large corporations use Dave for walk-around and as after dinner entertainment. The Amazing Dave is now so busy with paid professional jobs that he has little time for the street.
Performing magic full time has given Dave the opportunity to work with several well known sports and entertainment personalities. He has appeared twice at the (John) "Elway Foundation Charities" annual fund raising ball. The "Golden Girls" Rue McClanahan and Estelle Getty tied Dave up in his famed "Jacket of Doom". Peter Coors took his turn trying to restrain Dave in the straitjacket. While with the Denver Nuggets, television personality Scott Hastings tied Dave down. Dave entertained guests of Peter Forsberg with the Colorado Avalanche and Colorado Governor Bill Owens.
